The Cosmos just posted the following on their website:
There has been a buyout at The New York Cosmos and management changes have taken place in various areas of our organization. This also results in a full restructure of both our business and staffing, which will continue to be assessed by the new leadership team that is expected to be appointed within the next 60 days. It is unequivocally the goal of the current ownership to become an MLS team in the most expedient manner possible, and decisions for the club will be made with this in mind.
It’s good to hear some official news on the subject as the last week has been full of speculation that Sela Sports had been the ones to buy into the organisation. While we still don’t know the group involved, this news is still welcomed.
One thing we can all hope for is that they don’t reshape the staff too heavily, as I believe that will negatively affect the club moving forward. Let’s see how things pan out.
Stay tuned..

Cool!
The Cosmos just tweeted the news that, if you were to believe the rumours, we had been anticipating for some time.
Paul Kemsley has stepped down from his position as Chairman/CEO.
What this means for the club exactly isn’t known. There are rumours abound of new ownership groups, Chuck Blazer and more. The club says that business will continue as normal and the day-to-day management won’t change.
Without any more details, it is hard to come to any definitive conclusion as to the effect this will in the long run.
Per ardua ad astra.

A blast from the past.
Here’s an interesting inter-office memo from the offices of the Cosmos, June 2, 1977.
Instructing the payroll department on Franz Beckenbauer’s salary details, it offers a glimpse into a golden era of soccer in the USA.

A little gem for you.. footage of the Cosmos on the road at the Los Angeles Lazers, in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) from 1984.

A very interesting article from Forbes.com just showed up in my inbox.
If you didn’t know, the Wilpons are the majority owners of the New York Mets baseball team and played a massive role in getting their stadium Citi Field build in Queens.
The article discusses their ongoing interest in owning an MLS team, and a piece of land next to Citi Field they have been looking at redeveloping (possibly for an MLS stadium).
Obviously financial problems are a factor, as always.. but this is some interesting, and frankly, welcome news for us hoping for a competitive Cosmos return.

My day yesterday in photo format. MLS headquarters was very cool, Red Bull Park is massive and quite impressive, and it was a truly excellent day (even though the Union lost).
I spy some Cosmos gear in MLS HQ.
